Moore Wilsons is an independent wholesale and retail grocery business with four stores across the Wellington region. As a grocery store we knew that energy use for refrigeration, space heating and lighting were likely to be significant and we looked for common opportunities from audits we have completed at other temperature controlled sites.
Energy Audit
Problem:
Moore Wilson's wanted to optimise their energy efficiency to reduce energy costs and achieve emissions reductions.
Solution:
Lumen conducted an energy audit for their Wellington, Lower Hutt, and Porirua sites, identifying several efficiency improvement options to reduce their consumption of electricity and natural gas.
Results:
The implementation of findings from the energy audit led to ongoing energy savings of 7% in the first eight months, avoiding around 20 tonnes of energy related carbon emissions. These savings included a significant 32% reduction in natural gas usage.
